Lords of the Fallen is about exploring the mysterious world and facing tough boss fights. Even the first boss – Pieta, is challenging to defeat due to her move set and lethal attacks, making new players spend hours if they don’t understand Dark Souls-type gameplay mechanics. So, if you are a newbie player struggling to overcome the initial boss, I recommend you learn how to parry(counter) and follow the below tips.
How to defeat Fallen Pieta Boss – Lords of the Fallen
Before doing anything, please change your mentality. Lords of the Fallen is not another casual open-world AAA game like Assassin’s Creed or Cyberpunk. It is a challenging title like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Dark Souls series. So, have a competitive spirit and be ready to replay each fight.
Loadout
Though there are some secret weapons for grabs on the way to Pieta, you can defeat her using your default loadout available from the start.
Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal – Phase I
The first phase of the fight is pretty easy if you stay 3 to 5 feet from her and dodge long strikes. After evading, get close to her and inflict damage using your primary weapon. You can speed up this process using grenades or Fire Salts in between. While it is advisable to be close, try to stay from her ground strike.
Remember, it is also the best time to learn parrying for future bosses. So, along with evading, try to block her attacks. It will be challenging initially due to her long sword strikes. Follow her animation timing to perfect the art of parrying. Please don’t make it hard on yourself, as it will take time to learn the skill. Keep repeating the above process until she loses one-third of your health and the battle transitions to Phase II.
Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal – Phase II
In Phase II, Pieta will start moving a lot, which involves flying and summoning spectral entities. During this range of motion, stand near the edges of the Bridgeway and throw grenades at her. Once she stops moving and stands near you like in Phase I, parry, attack, and use grenades to tick off her health.
Another thing to note is her AOE-type swords that appear from the sky. When it happens, see the lane on it is about to fall and switch paths.
Rinse and repeat everything until you bring down Pieta and progress to the next level.
