Lords of the Fallen takes the players to a grimdark fantasy setting heavily inspired by titles like Bloodborne and Dark Souls. In some ways, Lords of the Fallen puts its own spin on the Soulslike formula, and in others it remains true to the basics.
One of the ways this game retains the Souls DNA is by allowing the player to fast travel exactly the same way they would in a regular Souls game. But there are a few differences that require explaining for players unfamiliar with this mode of travel.
How To Use Vestiges To Fast Travel
Vestiges in Lords of the Fallen are rest points like Bonfires. Activating a Vestige rest point resets the enemies in the world and returns the player to Axiom, the land of the living from the Umbral Realm.
But that’s not all Vestiges are good for. In addition to their other functions, they also allow the player to fast-travel from one Vestige to another in an instant, use the multiplayer function, and level up.
Note that you can only travel to Vestiges you have already discovered and rested at. If you encounter a Vestige and don’t interact with it, it will not be registered for that character, and you cannot fast-travel there.
How To Use Vestige Seedlings To Fast Travel
Lords of the Fallen also introduces the Vestige Seedling mechanic, which essentially allows the player to place their own resting points in the world if they find a spot for it. Vestige Seedlings can only be placed at Umbral flower beds, where white flowers grow in bunches on the ground.
Once placed, players can fast travel to and from that Vestige Seedling exactly the same way they do when using a regular Vestige resting point. Do take care when trying to place a Vestige Seedling, as enemies can attack you mid-animation.
