Health and Stamina in Lords of the Fallen are two of the most important stats to increase for players regardless of playstyle. More Health allows more room for mistakes and is necessary to make tank builds work.
Stamina is even more useful as every single action in the game requires a certain amount of Stamina to work. Having at least a sliver of Stamina at all times is absolutely crucial to have the option to dodge a surprise attack from a hidden enemy.
How To Increase Health
There are two ways to increase your Health in Lords of the Fallen.
Increase Vitality Stat
Among the six stats players can upgrade at each level up, only Vitality increases the player’s overall Health alongside their carry weight, defenses, and resistances. Each point into Vitality increases your character’s HP by around 20-21 points. While not a massive increase, it is nonetheless optimal to put at least some points into Vitality to bring it around 15-20 points to allow room for some mistakes.
Items
Certain items in the game have the effect of increasing the player’s Vitality and increasing their HP pool as a result.
- Ring of Duty can be purchased from Stomund, Captain of the Fidelis.
- Defaced Ring is at Pilgrim’s Perch inside a chest locked behind an Umbral Door.
- Queen Verena II’s Ring is found in the Upper Calrath region after clearing the Cistern near the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian, accessible through the Umbral Realm.
Both the Ring of Duty and the Defaced Ring increase Vitality, but the Ring of Duty is available for a limited time as Stomund will only stay at Skyrest until you clear two of the five beacons. Be sure to buy anything you need from him before that point.
Queen Verena II’s Ring has the unique effect of regenerating Health over time, making it one of the best rings in the game for any play style.
How To Increase Stamina
In Lords of the Fallen, every form of damage requires Stamina to use. Be it melee weapons, throwables, or magic, you need Stamina in order to perform that action. Stamina is extremely important for heavy weapon users in particular as those types of weapons require a massive Stamina pool to be used effectively. Like Health, there are only two ways to increase Stamina.
Increase Endurance Stat
The Endurance Stat governs Stamina and Carryweight, alongside the standard increase in defenses and resistances that come with each level up, regardless of which stat you pick.
Endurance is almost never a dump stat, and players will always want to have at least 15 points in it to give them the ability to dodge in fights.
Items
Just like Vitality, certain items increase Stamina by increasing the Endurance stat.
- The Mineowner’s Ring is available in the Village area at the start of the game on a hanging corpse. This ring provides a flat increase to Stamina as well as boosting the rate at which Stamina regenerates, making it one of the best rings for fast and nimble playstyles.
- The Ring of Duty from Stomund has the effect of increasing Endurance and Vitality, in turn, Stamina and Health, so it is a great option if you need an increase in both stats at the same time.
- The Paladin’s Pendant, the default starting item for the Dark Crusader class, is also a great option as it increases both Strength and Endurance stats.
