Lords of the Fallen offers players an interconnected world with lots of backtracking and unlocking shortcuts to previously cleared areas. The Pilgrim’s Perch is one of the starting areas of the game and where players will need to head to to progress the game further.
As players progress through Pilgrim’s Perch, they will eventually come across a platform with two Ardent Penitents and two Mages with nothing else in sight. Entering the Umbral will reveal a locked Umbral Door blocking the way forward. Here is how to open this door.
How To Open The Locked Umbral Door (Tumor)
Before solving this puzzle, defeat all the enemies nearby, as it is difficult to navigate the area without fear of falling off while having to constantly look out for the incoming attacks. Once the area is completely devoid of any enemies, enter the Umbral Realm and look towards the Umbral Tumor. You will see four roots glowing a dull purple emerging from the door. Every door here leads to a node that needs to be interacted with in order to open the door. There are four nodes in total.
First Node
Directly above the Umbral Door and slightly to the right. Position yourself as close to the edge as possible and look up. You’ll see a person sticking out of the wall. Use the Soulflay ability to interact with them and destroy the first root.
Second Node
While looking at the door, turn left, and you will see a wooden beam forming a very thin pathway to a small platform. Reach the platform and look up, and you’ll see another person sticking out of the wall, hidden above some roof tiles. Soulflay him to destroy the second root.
Third Node
Directly opposite the Umbral Door, you will find a skeleton bridge spiral down towards a new platform. Head down, and you will find another node sticking out of the wall surrounded by zombie-spawning eggs. Destroy all enemies here and interact with the node to destroy the third root.
Fourth Node
On the left edge of the platform where you destroyed the third node, look down to find another person sticking out of a dilapidated house. Soulflay him to destroy the fourth root.
And that’s it! Head back to the Umbral Door, and you will find it unlocked. If you’re still having trouble, here is a step-by-step video clip showing the process of unblocking the pathway from start to finish.
