Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has only been out for one week, but players are already discovering hidden tricks and easter eggs all over New York City.
One of the game’s newest features is web-wings, which allows both Peter Parker and Miles Morales to glide around the city with ease. To keep Spider-Man 2’s traversal feeling quick and smooth, Insomniac Games has also added wind tunnels all over the city. Essentially, what these wind tunnels do is give Peter and Miles a boost when using the web-wings.
The wind tunnels certainly come in handy, and they’re usually placed in strategic spots around the city to allow you to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible. However, one player seems to have discovered a mini wind tunnel in a rather unusual spot that is definitely easy to miss.
Taking to the Spider-Man subreddit earlier this week, user rrdaquis33 showed off the secret wind tunnel, which you can see right here. The tunnel appears to be placed inside of the stairs that lead up towards the train tracks. If you’re slick enough, you can enable the web wings and glide right through the staircase before being spat out the other side with a notable boost.
It’s unclear exactly where in the city this wind tunnel is located, but fellow players were certainly impressed with the discovery. One user responded by saying, “WHAAAAAT?!?! DUDE THATS AMAZING!!!!” while others praised the addition of web-wings and even stated that Insomniac Games had made “the best Superman game by accident”.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is already shaping up to be one of the biggest games of the year, sitting at a hugely impressive Metacritic score of 90. So it should come as no surprise that PlayStation decided to go all out with the game’s marketing, even promoting Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the Las Vegas Sphere earlier this week, shortly after Xbox’s own advertisement.
But it hasn’t been all good news for Insomniac, as the studio recently came under fire for incorrectly placing the Cuban flag inside of Miles Morales’ home, as opposed to the Puerto Rican flag. Insomniac recently apologized for the mix-up, saying “We understand that accurate representation matters, and greatly regret this error. We sincerely apologize and will do better in the future”. The latest patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 rectifies this issue and is available to download now on PlayStation 5.
