The Edge browser is considered increasingly bloated, but Microsoft isn’t going to stop and wants to make it appealing to all kinds of users. On Thursday, developers named the browser the best for gamers and want to prove it with new features.

A home page dedicated to games has been added. It will have game news, guides, live streaming and tournament highlights. There is integration with Xbox, so when you log into your Xbox account, it shows recent game-related content. If you have an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, you can run games in your browser. This home page is available in a tab on the main Microsoft Edge home page.

Clarity Boost functionality was introduced in Edge Canary last November and has now made its way to the final version of the browser. It improves image quality and detail when streaming games from Xbox Cloud Gaming. The technology leverages client-side scaling.

Efficiency mode minimizes the consumption of browser resources when a game is running on the computer. When you exit the game, the browser’s resource usage is restored to normal. This is enabled in the performance settings in Edge.

Microsoft has announced a game center in Edge for casual games. A “Games” menu will be built into the advanced options and will give access to classic games like Microsoft Solitaire, Jewel, Mahjong. The hub has been in testing since December.

Somebody could use all of this, but there will probably be detractors. Such functionality could be implemented in extensions, getting rid of it for those who don’t need it, Neowin writes.
