Microsoft confirms shortage of Xbox controllers due to supply problems

Since the launch of their consoles, Sony and Microsoft have been struggling to produce enough next-generation consoles to meet demand. Microsoft may face an even bigger problem this summer, as the company has confirmed a shortage of Xbox controllers.

According to VGC, UK retailers such as GAME, Smyths, Argos, Currys and even the official Microsoft Store do not have Xbox controllers on sale. At the moment, Amazon UK seems to be one of the few places where you can buy an Xbox controller at MSRP (£55), but only in Carbon Black color. A quick look at the other colors shows that third-party sellers are asking £94 or more for the Xbox controller.

In addition to the UK, other countries such as Australia, France, the Netherlands and Germany face similar shortages. The U.S., on the other hand, does not seem to be as badly affected, as various retailers are selling them. However, some of them are already selling exclusively used controllers.

If the price of Xbox controllers continues to rise, you might be better off buying an Xbox Series S console, selling it and keeping the controller. It might end up being cheaper in the long run.
