It has long been known that demand for the Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series game consoles is greater than supply. It turns out that not everyone can buy Xbox wireless controllers either. They seem to be hardest to find in Europe, which has led to an increase in their prices.
Residents of countries such as Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, France and Denmark are writing about the shortage online. In the British GAME store, the £160 Elite Series 2 was the only Xbox wireless controller officially available. Cheaper versions are currently sold out. On the Amazon.co.uk online store, third-party sellers are selling the Xbox Black Carbon Black for £100, noticeably higher than the recommended price. Inventory at Amazon’s main store has been minimal or zero for the past few weeks. In the Netherlands, the price is 100 euros, which is the highest value in the history of sales of these controllers.
In the U.S., the availability of controllers is higher. GameStop has quite a few used ones and many new ones, as do BestBuy.com and the official Xbox site in the U.S. The DualSense PlayStation 5 has no problem with availability either.
It’s unclear whether the current situation is related to the component shortages that have hampered the production of electronic devices in sufficient quantities for the past couple of years, Techspot writes.
