Minecraft’s status as one of the best open-world sandbox games ever made is rock solid, especially considering its steady supply of new content. Due to its nature, players are free to explore and focus on the activities they find rewarding, such as decorating and building their base.
As part of the building phase, the game’s many dyes can be used to change the colors of various blocks, from Terracotta and Concrete to Banners. White Dye is especially popular, as it has a clean look preferred by many. However, with so many recipes and items in the game, it can be tricky to remember the best way to make everything. Here is the easiest way to get White Dye, and where you’ll find the proper crafting materials.

How To Craft White Dye
White Dye, added in patch 1.14, can be crafted using one Bone Meal or One Lily of the Valley. Alternatively, it can also be found out in the wild by using the Archeology Brush on Suspicious Gravel in a Trail Ruins Point of Interest.
The Easiest Ingredients For Crafting White Dye
Generally, the ingredient that is the easiest to obtain will depend on your current World Seed. However, unless you are lucky enough to spawn in a Flower Forest, then Bone Meal is probably the most reliable way to make White Dye.
How To Get Bone Meal
Bone Meal can be obtained through a variety of methods including via Traders, Composters, and by killing fish. However, the most reliable and quickest way to farm Bone Meal is by killing Skeletons. One bone will create three Bone Meal, and each skeleton will drop 0–2 bones (with an additional one added for each level of Looting your weapon has).
Farming Skeletons
To find Skeletons, you can either venture into dark locations such as caves, or outside at night. However, many players prefer to create a mob farmer using pistons and a Skeleton Spawner. This will result in an endless supply of bones, arrows, and experience, but this method can also cause lagging in your game. This is especially problematic if you are playing on a public server, and may be a bannable offense.
Where To Find Lily Of The Valley
Lily of the Valley is a one-block-high flower that spawns in several biomes.
- Flower Forest
- Forest
- Birch Forest
- Old Growth Birch Forest
- Dark Forest
They spawn naturally when a new chunk is loaded, but are also a renewable resource, meaning that they will grow back after harvesting them.
