The release of each new part of the long-running Japanese RPG-series Final Fantasy is an event. And its sixteenth numbered part, judging by the story of its creators, promises to be something truly grand.

Naoki Yoshida, the producer, shared curious details about the gameplay and release of Final Fantasy XVI. Gematsu staff has collected the most interesting things from Yoshida’s talks with the press. So:
- Sixteenth Final Fantasy will do without DLC – the story will be finished;
- The fantasy setting was chosen simply because Creative Business Unit III likes it, nothing more;
- There will be no open world – the game will be divided into large locations;
- Clive’s protagonist will be accompanied throughout the adventure by AI partners;
- The story will be epochal and stretch over decades: gamers will see the protagonist as a teenager, a 20-year-old youth and a 30-year-old man;
- the battles between the Eikons (the giant sammons from the last trailer) are unique, each executed in their own style – one of them even works by shooter rules;
- Clive can learn the Aikons’ abilities and use them in battles with the rank-and-file mobs;
- the game can already be passed from start to finish, the authors are engaged in its testing and polishing.
Finally, Square Enix will release a new trailer in the fall. Final Fantasy XVI will be released in the summer of 2023. So far the project is only announced for PlayStation 5, but probably later it will be released on other platforms.
