Rockstar Games has sent out a notification to fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The studio first announced that work on the next version of the series – Grand Theft Auto 6 – has begun. The game has yet to be given an official name, but it is currently in the works.
However, the devs did not mention when the game will be officially announced. According to journalist and insider Jason Schreyer, this could happen before the end of the year; first, the release date will be announced in 2023, then the game will be delayed until 2024.

On the same day, a new console version of GTA Online will be released. PlayStation 5 owners will get three months of early access, but standalone GTA Online will not be available on older consoles.

- Nextgen versions of GTA 5 and GTA Online support ray tracing. There will be improved textures, increased rendering range, support for 3D sound.
- You can transfer progress from previous generation consoles.
- In a separate version of GTA Online, you can skip the prologue and immediately select one of four criminal “quarries”.
- GTA Online for new consoles will feature a shop that allows you to upgrade 10 vehicles so that they “take full advantage of the capabilities of the new consoles.”
Rockstar has not stated how much the standalone version of GTA Online will cost or whether it will be available for PC.
