Developers from Rare studio announced the start of the seventh season of the pirate online action game Sea of Thieves. With its beginning in the game appeared a lot of new features, among which can be considered particularly important the ability to buy your own ship, on which the progress and cosmetics will be saved between sessions.
Such a ship will also retain all scratches and patching from holes until the player’s team sinks or decides to make visual repairs. At first, the player will be given only one ship of each type, but after gaining a legendary achievement for each ship, the fleet can be expanded. The maximum number of ships that one player can own is 15.
About the pirate ships is worth saying a few more words. So, each purchased ship will have its own unique name, which will be displayed on the coat of arms and flag, and the captain’s ships from now on have the ability to further decorate the cabin. And only the captain is allowed to do the latter. Also a new system of progress and achievements was added for the captain’s ships, but the achievements will be available for the whole crew.
On board the captain’s ship you can find the ship’s log. It displays all the progress for the current session, which can also be viewed by other players. The log remains at the crash site, it can be sold – the cost depends on the life of the ship. Adventurous captains will be able to buy travel kits and resource kits, which will be automatically added to the crates on the ship.
Finally, there is a new faction in the game, the Rulers. It has no progress, it is created only for interaction with the captains. All other factions except Dead Man’s Bones and the Brotherhood of the Hunter can sell treasure through it. The Rulers have their own separate pier at each of the outposts. Players will also be offered a new progress bar for the Looters’ pass and new seasonal rewards.
Season 7 introduced some curious changes to Sea of Thieves gameplay:
- The ability to move chairs appeared;
- on board an enemy ship, it is no longer possible to revive crewmates;
- there is a function of scaling maps, logs and notes in the hands of the hero;
- the time on the Damned Ferry for single players has been shortened – they can now return to the game much faster after a character’s death.
