Star Ocean The Second Story R has many specialties for players to level up and give their characters access to unique skills and traits. As multiple characters unlock and learn various specialties, different combinations will then unlock Super Specialties for the party to use.

Super Specialties can be unlocked as early or late into the game as players would like, one of which gives them the ability to auto-fight weak enemies. Enemies that appear as green fog clouds indicate the enemy is much lower in level and can be auto-fought.

How To Unlock Bodyguard

The Party Surrounded By Weak Enemies

To auto-fight green enemies in the overworld, players will need to unlock the “Bodyguard” Super Specialty. This is done by leveling up two characters’ Scouting specialty to level 4, and one character to Train level 1. Leveling up Scouting can be done by increasing the “Danger Radar” skill in the IC/Specialty Skills menu, with Train being leveled up by increasing Determination, Resilience, and Effort. Unlocking these skills will give a notification that the Super Speciality Bodyguard is unlocked.

How To Level Up Bodyguard

The Danger Radar Skill For Claude

When players first unlock Bodyguard, their party members will only fight a few enemies in the overworld, still ignoring many. By leveling up the Bodyguard Super Specialty, party members will seek out and defeat more enemies, letting players farm XP from auto-battles much more quickly. To level up the Bodyguard Super Specialty, level up the “Scouting” specialty for each party member. As their combined scouting level increases, the Bodyguard Super Speciality will also increase to the max level of 10.

After the Bodyguard Super Specialty has been unlocked, players can activate it within the IC/Specialty menu. While active, other party members will run towards enemies and fight them automatically, while the player just focuses on exploring or traveling. If the enemy is close or higher in level and a purple mist, the party member will only distract the enemy for a few seconds, distracting for longer with a higher level. If the enemy is a green mist and much weaker, the party member will immediately defeat the enemy, rewarding the party with XP and Fol.
