Starfield is a massive game full of interesting things for players to do while exploring the universe. Whether you’re building Outposts or joining factions, there’s a lot to do.
Unfortunately, since the game is so large, there’s also a lot that players can miss out on as well. Here’s a list of everything you can miss in the game.
Due to the sheer size of Starfield, it is difficult to know if everything is covered in this list. Since this is the case, this is an ever-expanding list. Make sure you check back frequently to ensure that you aren’t missing anything.
All Missable Quests
There are several missable quests throughout the game. These are mainly quests that are locked after certain points of no return in the game. These points are during the “A High Price To Pay” quest and the “Unearth” quest.
Companion Quests
After the quest, “A High Price To Pay,” you will lose one of your companions. You will be asked to defend the Lodge or the Eye. Depending on your choices here, one of the main companions (Sarah, Sam, Andreja, or Barrett) will die. Once this happens, you will be locked out of doing the companion quest for whichever companion has died in the game.

All Missable Companions
While most companions will either automatically join you or will always be waiting for you to recruit them, there are a few that you can miss out on entirely. Here are the ones that you can miss.
Adoring Fan
The Adoring Fan is a companion that is only available to those who have the Hero Worshipped Trait at the start of the game. If you decided on this Trait while creating your character, the Adoring Fan will find you during your time on New Atlantis. He is a great addition to anyone wanting a stealth companion.
Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart (yes, the one from history class) is another missable companion. You can find her on the planet Charybdis III in the Charybdis Solar System. Once there, you will start the quest Operation Starseed. If Amelia Earhart dies during this questline or you decide to wipe out the colony on the planet, you cannot recruit her.
Erick Von Price
Erick Von Price is another companion you can miss out on. During the quest Start-up Stopped (available at Jane’s Goods in Cydonia), you will be asked to retrieve the ship the Berry Mule. Once you dock on the ship, you will find mercenaries on it. If you let them have the ship but save Erick, you can recruit Erick Von Price. If you destroy the ship, you won’t be able to recruit him.
Heller
Heller is one of the first characters that you meet in the game. During Back to Vectera, you will need to save Barrett from some pirates. Along the way, you will see Heller again, although he is worse for wear this time. You will need to help him if you want to recruit him.
Rafael
Rafael is a main character in the quest Entangled. During this quest, you will help out the Nishina Research Lab on Freya III. In the end, you will need to save Rafael or someone else (though you can save both if you try). If you don’t save him during the quest, you won’t be able to recruit him later.
All Missable Romances
After the quest, “A High Price To Pay,” you will lose one of your companions. You will be asked to defend the Lodge or the Eye. Depending on your choices here, one of the main companions (Sarah, Sam, Andreja, or Barrett) will die. Once this happens, you will be locked out of ever romancing that character. Other than that, you won’t experience a missable romance. All characters are romanceable at any point, so long as you spend time with them.
Other Non-changeable Aspects
There are also aspects that you cannot change in the game. While these are necessarily missables, they can lead to missing out on certain things.
Backgrounds
Once you have selected your Background at the beginning of the game, you cannot change it. This means that you can miss out on very minor conversation prompts. (This doesn’t really change anything.)
Traits
While you can remove certain Traits in the game, you cannot go back and add them. This means that you can miss out on things such as the Dream Home or having parents if you don’t have those Traits.
Skill Points
Once you have put Skill Points into a certain Skill, you cannot undo it. This means you need to be sure that you want the Skill you are selecting.
Persuasion
If you fail a persuasion, you cannot redo it. This means that if you want to ensure your persuasion works, you may want to save before trying to persuade someone.
