In Starfield, it’s possible to find dozens of quests in one city alone. The fact that one quest can lead to another that leads to another one is one of the greatest things about this game. Not only can you level up quickly doing this, but you can also stock up on credits.
You’ll be given The Great Laredo Caper Quest once you complete Job Gone Wrong, which doesn’t take long at all. These side quests may seem tedious, but it’s a great way to get quick rewards such as loot, credits, and XP.
Location
This mission will be located in Akila City on Akila in the Cheyenne System. More specifically, it will occur at Laredo Firearms store on the South side of the city near the gate.
Find The Girl
Follow your marker on the screen to find Annie Wilcox. She should be located just a little way from Laredo Firearms standing against a fence with her friend. This will be to the right of the South Gate of the city. Annie seems to be a young teen who is rebellious. Upon meeting her, she will tell you that she will be keeping her eye on you since you’re new in town.
She claims that she joined the Freestar Rangers as the first-ever Ranger Surveillance Assistant. She says her job is to listen and observe others. If she notices anything illegal happening then she reports back to the Rangers. She received the title from Emma Wilcox, her mother.
Annie says that it’s easy considering everyone who walks by her only sees her as a random kid and that she knows secret places to hide in the city. When you tell her you don’t want any trouble, she’ll tell you how Akila City is crawling with crime. She tells you that someone is stealing guns from Laredo Firearms, yet none of the adults believe Annie and her friend Emily.
She saw someone sneak into the shop after dark, but she had to get home for her bedtime before she could uncover what they were doing. She wants you to help expose the truth. All they know so far about the thief is that he breaks in most nights, and has his own keycard. You’ll have a chance to ask Annie for more information about the whole situation as it does sound odd that a thief would have his own keycard.
Apprehend Thief
Once you agree to help catch the Laredo Arms thief, your mission will update for you to catch the thief at midnight. The marker will have you waiting near the Shooting Range on the side of Laredo Firearms. Depending on the time you spoke with Annie, you should be able to find a nearby chair to sit and wait until it gets closer to midnight. Make sure you do the timing correctly, so you don’t miss the thief.
Once it’s roughly 11pm, you’ll find the thief sneaking up from the shooting range. The suspect will begin stuttering as he tries to defend himself. Before you can get too much out of the thief, an Akila City Security officer comes running over telling everyone not to move.
Dealing With Security
Looking at the thief, security will say it’s awfully suspicious to be taking a late-night stroll with all of those guns. The thief will ultimately give up as he knows he has no way of coming up with a defense for the obvious evidence. She will tell you that she received a tip, and she’s surprised Annie was right about there being a thief.
She will tell you that she’ll take it from there and to thank Annie for her. She also mentions how there’s no way Annie will let her live it down that she was right while no one believed her. Unfortunately, it doesn’t go into details as to why the thief had a keycard to begin with.
Report To Annie Wilcox
To find Annie, run past the Laredo Firearms and go to your left into the city, go up the steps near Galbank and around the corner towards Coe Plaza. In the center of town, you’ll want to go to The Rock to find her. Head up both sets of stairs, and you’ll find her at the bar area near the next set of stairs.
When you tell her they caught the thief, she will be excited while her mother Emma sternly asks what she did. Emma will ask you to confirm that what she’s saying is true about the thief. You’ll be given a few options but once you confirm it, Emma will tell Annie that she’s proud of her while also telling her she needs to be careful, and the mission will be completed.
Rewards
Emma Wilcox will reward you for helping catch the thief and for believing in her daughter. You will receive 50 XP along with 3000 credits.
