The casting of game adaptations is a slippery subject. On the one hand, you have to please the fans and find the “right” actor. On the other hand, you don’t want to neglect the “stars” either. The creators of the animated film based on Super Mario Bros. decided to bet on celebrities, which the audience did not appreciate. The producer is sure that for nothing.

Christopher Meledanri rose to the defense Chris Pratt – the latter, recall, was entrusted to voice Mario, but gamers are still unsure about the choice of the authors of the tape. According to Meledanri, Pratt perfectly fits the image of an Italian plumber, and it’s not just some guess on the ground: the picture is already ready for 3/4, most of his lines are already written down. Plus, the actor is of Italian-American descent, so this kind of casting is not supposed to offend anyone on the grounds of cultural appropriation.

The Super Mario Bros. adaptation doesn’t have an exact release date yet – it’s set to premiere in 2023. Rumor has it that the movie will not only be an action-adventure, but also a musical.
