Ubisoft’s pirate action game Skull & Bones has been given an age rating – it looks like a release looms on the horizon

Ubisoft’s long-suffering, hapless creation Skull & Bones has been in production hell for five years, but now a release appears to be just around the corner: attentive visitors to the official North American ESRB site have discoveredthat the project is rated “M” (Mature, 17+).

Technically, this is the toughest age rating the ESRB has at its disposal. There is also a special super strict rating AO (Adults Only), but in the history of the game industry it was used only a few times, and only in especially egregious cases.

Usually, assigning an age rating to games indicates the completion of their production and preparation for a quick release, because the commission needs to evaluate the finished version of the project, intended to be sold on the market. It is possible that in the next few days Ubisoft will officially announce the release date of Skull & Bones and publish a lot of supporting documentation. This, by the way, is hinted at by the recent information from a reputable insider Tom Henderson.
