Back in April, Blizzard officially unveiled not one, but as many as two WoW expansions. For starters, players of the classic version will get Wrath of the Lich King, allowing them to relive one of the best expansions in MMO history. In addition, the latest WoW expansion, known as Dragonflight, is on its way. While some were expecting this expansion to be released in 2023, it’s actually coming out as early as this year.
Blizzard opened pre-orders for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight this week, featuring the Base Edition, Heroic Edition and Epic Edition, priced at £39, 99, 54, 99 and 74, 99 respectively. As usual, the higher editions contain additional bonuses such as character upgrades, a pet, a mount, and more.
With pre-orders already open, Blizzard has also confirmed that Dragonflight is scheduled for release this year. Usually it takes longer from the announcement to the release of WoW add-ons, with many of them coming out a year after the announcement. This time around, Blizzard has sped up the process considerably.
Dragonflight will feature a new playable race and class, the Dracthyr Evokers. The new expansion will send players on a new adventure to the home of dragons and return World of Warcraft to its high fantasy roots. The maximum level will be increased to 70, and players will be able to learn a new skill – dragon riding, which includes the ability to move through the air. The talent system has also been redesigned, professions have been improved, and the game’s user interface has been updated.
Previous leaks have claimed that Dragonflight will be released this November, but Blizzard has yet to confirm an exact date. Nevertheless, we should expect the expansion to come out this holiday season. Will you return to WoW for Dragonflight? Or have you already left the game for good?
