Referees have an important role in resting matches, often much bigger than merely judging the match. There are special referee matches in WWE 2K24 that let you take control over the referees and judge or be judged.
WWE 2K24 Special Referee Matches Guide
You can also play WWE 2K24 as a referee, and your mission is to ensure that all the rules are obeyed. That means you will count the pinfalls, handle the rope breaks, and even disqualify wrestlers if they are pulling sneaky moves. However, if you do your job poorly, you can be demoted to manager or kicked out completely. Many of the unlockable wrestlers, including some legendary names, can be chosen as ref.
How to select Referee in WWE 2K24
First, go to the Play menu and select One-on-one match. Next, change the match type to ‘Special Guest Referee.’ Special Referee Match can only be selected for One-on-One match. Go to the wrestlers’ select screen and tick the middle box to select the referee. Keep in mind that referees don’t have to be the same gender as the wrestlers; Stone Cold can ref Divas, for example.
How to play as Referee in WWE 2K24
Once the match begins, you have complete control over the referee you have selected. You can go around the ring and do nothing if you like, but that won’t give you a good rating. There are four important roles any referee should do:
- Count the pinfalls
- Call for rope breaks
- Check the submissions
- Keep the cheating at bay
When your ref gets in the situation to react, a button prompt on the screen will show you which commands to press. Proper and timely completion of ref actions will fill the referee status bar in the top-left corner. Bad and late calls will deplete the referee bar, and when it gets empty, another judge will replace you and relegate you to manager.
How to get kicked out as Referee in WWE 2K24
There are many ways to get demoted from your referee role. If you switch off the Special Guest Referee mode in the middle of the match, leave the ring, or constantly mess up your decisions. That will empty the status bar quickly, and you will stop being a judge, but you can still affect the match as a manager. Being a manager, you can route for your wrestler, interact with the crowd, and you can even interfere with the match by striking the opposing wrestler. However, if you get caught, you will be kicked out of the event completely.
