Skull and Bones has been the Ubisoft game that has offered more news in recent weeks. As we are used to seeing in the French studio’s titles, the game will offer us an open world in which we will have to take control of the seas. However, unlike the rest of the company’s experiences, so we will not have a deep story in Skull and Bones..

It was the game’s director, Ryan Barnard, who in an interview granted to the colleagues of True Achievements has spoken about the narrative aspect of the game, or rather, the lack thereof. Barnard has assured that anyone looking for a deep story in Skull and Bones will be looking for the wrong game..

Looking for a deep story in Skull and Bones? Ubisoft warns it’s not what you should expect

“It’s not a narrative game. We have narrative parts in the game, like meeting important characters called Kingpins who have their own stories that you’ll discover as you develop your relationship with them after accepting the contract.”Barnard explains. “There’s an underlying story in the game that the whole lore of the world is built around, but it’s not the main focus. We want players to create their own stories and be able to choose what kind of pirate they want to become“, concluded the project manager.

Skull and Bones developers state that the game lacks depth.

Therefore, it seems to be clear that the game will not be an experience to which Ubisoft has accustomed us, resembling more to what we saw in Sea of Thieves than Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, to make a comparison within another game of the studio. On the contrary, it seems that the experience will be based more on a good progression system, with which we will get “recipes” for different types of weapons, ships and much more.
